Evelyn was born in Swift Current,Saskatchewan, where she lived all her childhood. She moved to Calgary after graduation to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated from the Holy Cross Hospital Nursing School in 1960 and started her career as a paediatric nurse fulfilling both her love of children and service to others.
She married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Murphy, in Swift Current on September 1, 1962, beginning 25 years of memories together.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Bob in 1987 and grand daughter Katelyn in 1993. She is survived by her son Shawn (Sheila); and grandchildren Meagan (Riley) and Michael (Emma).
Evelyn’s faith was instilled at an early age. It gave her comfort and a sense of peace throughout her life. May eternal rest be granted unto Evelyn and may she walk in the steps of the Lord.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Ascension Catholic Church, 1100 Berkshire Blvd. NW, Calgary, AB, on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 1:00pm. Following the Funeral Mass, Evelyn will be laid to rest alongside Robert and Katelyn during a private Graveside Service with the Murphy family.
