George was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Known for his warm smile and quick wit, he touched the lives of all those around him. His work ethic, kindness, and unwavering sense of humour will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Hogarth, daughter Renee Lillico (Devon), son Darren Hogarth (Marlene), grandchildren Nicholas (Carly), Candice (Colin), Jackie, and Cindy (Fred), great-grandchildren Ember, Paige, Aubrey, Deklen, Archie, Fred, Ari, and sister Julie Richardson (Bill).
George spent much of his adult life in Cold Lake, AB, where he still has many friends who will remember him fondly. He worked for the Alberta Liquor Control Bard and spent time as a town commissioner before retiring and moving to St. Albert, AB.
George and Mary were members of the Grand Centre Golf & Country Club and travelled in their RV together to Arizona, the Rocky Mountains, and the East Coast. George and Mary moved to Calgary in 2020.
Throughout his life, George found joy in simple pleasures—spending time at the cottage, cheering on his favourite sports teams, and winning at cribbage and Poke-no. George’s memory will be cherished by his loving family and a wide circle of friends.
The family will be holding a small, private gathering to celebrate George’s life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local Lung Association.
May he rest in peace, forever remembered and deeply missed.
