

Gerry was born in Kamin, Germany and immigrated to southern Alberta, Canada with his family in 1954. He began his 60 year career as a long-haul truck driver in Germany as an apprentice at the age of 18 years, bringing his skills to Canada, and the US, retiring at the age of 78 years. Gerry was very passionate about his career. And with the support of his wife and family, good work ethic, and professionalism Gerry enjoyed a long, successful career, and received many awards including 4.5 million miles accident free.
In Canada, he met his wife Gisela Degner and they married October 1, 1960, until she passed away after 42 years of marriage. They had 3 daughters together Judy (Jon), Heidi, and Christine who gave them 8 grandchildren Nathan, Kallen, Aydan, Kendra, Alyssa, Zachary, Jakob, and Gabrielle. He is also survived by his siblings Hilda Kwiring, Manfred Streblow (Trudy), and Helmut (Norma); as well as many nieces and nephews. Gerry will be missed for his stories about his adventures as a truck driver, his conversation, humour, and generosity. He loved socializing, which brought him many friends and acquaintances.
He was deeply loved, and will be sadly missed by many.
