

Gertie Bernice Pole was born in Calgary, AB on Sept. 18, 1927 and passed away peacefully in Airdrie, AB on Thursday, June 23, 2016. Gertie will be sadly missed by daughter Kathleen (Bill) Davidson and son Ralph (Laurel) Pole; grandchildren Jordan Chalmers, Kelly (Myron) Flexhaug, Dwayne (Carla) Pole, Murray (Joanne) Pole, Ian (Melissa) Chalmers and Jenna (Matt) Buch; and eleven great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by sister and brother-in-law Dot and Harvey Balderston and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harry Pole; brother Ed (Mary) Conville; sister Peggy (Hank) Buchanan; brother-in-law Jack and sister-in-law Doris Evans. Gertie worked at the Calgary Public Library before marrying Harry and moving to the farm at Beddington. She loved farm life, gardening, entertaining, reading, golfing, bowling and most especially her friendships. The grandchildren have many happy memories of all the family dinners and laughter in her home. Her wit and sense of fun brought lots of enjoyment. Gertie was a member of Beddington Ladies Aid, Nose Creek Community Club and secretary for Rural Electrification Assoc., volunteered at Bethany Care Centre and was a board member at Fletcher’s Village in Airdrie. A Celebration of Gertie’s Life will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Town and Country Centre in Airdrie, 275 Jensen Dr N.E., #103, Airdrie, AB.
