Mr. Gordon Alexander Anderson

1945 - 2015

Gord was born and raised in Calgary, AB and passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on Thursday, April 9, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Ellen; son Todd (Michelle) Anderson; daughters Kathy Anderson and Tammy (Brian) Olson; Grandsons Reid, Jared and Brady Anderson, and his furry girl Zoie. Gord is also survived by siblings Lorraine (Dave) Campbell, Bruce (Carol) Anderson and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Phyl Anderson. As a young parent Gord was very active in the Highwood Community and a longtime coach and director with The Minor Hockey Association of Calgary. He began his plumbing career with Anderson Plumbing and eventually took over co-ownership of Aqua Soft Water Service and Alberta Sheet Metal. Gord was proud of his lifetime membership with The Mechanical Contractors Association of Alberta and the Canadian Water Quality Association. Gord enjoyed his time as a volunteer for the Handi Boat Society of Alberta doing scheduling and fundraising but mostly meeting and driving groups out on the lake. There were countless fond memories of the many hours boating and spending fun times at the family cabin in Ghost Lake. Gord will be lovingly remembered for his dedication to family, his sense of humor and his ability to fundraise and organize for his volunteer groups. We would like to thank the staff of Unit 61 at the Foothills Medical Centre, but especially to Kevin, Mike, Ian, Shirley, Chantel, Ray and Steven for the special care, attention and respect given to Gord and our family in the last 2 months. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Gord’s name to the Lung Association of Alberta, P.O. Box 4500, Stn South Edmonton, Alberta T6E 6K2, or to EMS Foundation 100, 3705 – 35 Street NE Calgary, AB T1Y 6C2. At Gord’s Request a Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
