Henry was born on May 23, 1946 near Vancouver, British Columbia and moved at an early age to Grunthal, Manitoba. After completing high school, he enrolled at Red River Technical School but almost immediately enrolled at the University of Manitoba and earned a degree in Civil Engineering. In the 1990’s Henry returned to post-secondary education, this time to earn a Masters of Engineering in Project Management from the University of Calgary.
Professionally, anything Henry put his mind to he did well, starting with his first job in 1973 for Manitoba Hydro in Jenpeg, Manitoba at the Nelson River Diversion Project. He lived there for 4 years with Lesley Knight where they began their family with the birth of Kurt, followed with Erika when they relocated to Calgary where he would live the next forty plus years.
Once in Calgary, Henry began his prosperous career with Loram International in 1976. Henry was a valued team member at Manalta Coal, working on many mining projects in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. In 1993, he moved on to real estate developments, most notably construction of The Hyatt Regency Calgary and the Keynote development. Henry was very proud of all his accomplishments, thoroughly enjoying his 40 year recognition with Loram. Henry grew very fond of his monthly luncheons with the Mannix Old Boys and staying connected with long time friendships.
Another passion of Henry’s were his real estate adventures with Golda. With Dad’s construction mindset, Golda’s keen eye for decorating and Brother Dave’s skilled handiwork, they had many successful endeavours.
Henry also enjoyed his time traveling. With his many visits to Manitoba, he kept busy watching Aiden and Ryley in their various sporting events and keeping in touch with many friends and family. He thoroughly enjoyed escaping the Canadian winters by heading south with his companion Doreen Smale.
Henry was predeceased by his parents, and loving wife Golda Elliott. Dad is survived his children Kurt Neufeld and Erika Bloomfield (John), grandchildren Aiden and Ryley. He is also survived by siblings John (Mary-Ann), Agnes Litzenburger, Pete (Darlene), Dave (Cindy), and Margaret Lusby and numerous nieces and nephews.
