He was born on April 24th, to Edna and Anthony, in Winnipeg but later moved to Saskatchewan, to later settle in Calgary with his wife and family.
Howard was a true country gentlemen, caring, smart, loving, fun and brought the fun to the party. He had a great sense of humor, was always making people laugh, but could be very stubborn as well. He worked at ERCB for 37 years as a Petroleum Engineer. He enjoyed many things such as flying planes, riding his bike, dancing, singing, sitting on the deck and watching his animals, as well as enjoying beverages with his friends. He was part of a hockey team for 42 years, The Bullets, he last played in December of 2021 and scored a goal. He liked all the teams everyone hates such as Boston Bruines, New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas longhorns. He loved airplanes but his favorite was the F-14 Tomcat, he bought his own plane in 2011. He both loved and hated golf. Every server at the Owl was one of his girls, they always got kisses on the forehead or cheeks.
Howard and Jodie have known eachother for 27 years. Dated since 2001, moved in together in 2011 and got married on June 30th, 2012 at fish creek park. They then went to the owl for a beverage, to the house for pictures and then Queensland community hall for the reception, and their honeymoon in Victoria. They spent a lot of time visiting Mexico as it was one of their favorite places, alongside Vegas.
He also got to walk his daughters Erin and Kaitie down the aisle, he was very proud of that and took it seriously. He loved spending time with his grandkids when he was able to, he got to take some of them to see his plane. He got to join Xander at some of his classes and read lots of books with him. He owned 13 cowboy hats and had too many ball caps to count. He also enjoyed Star Trek, Star Gate and Top Gun.
Howard survived stage 4 Lymphoma from 2011 - 2014 and came back strong as ever. He is survived by Jodie (wife), Edna (mom), Curtis (son), Erin (daughter), Kaitie (daughter), Lucas (son in law), Kelroy (son in law), Kase, Carter, Colton, and Xander (Grandsons).
A letter from his wife to him.
“I struggle that you are gone. I can’t talk to you everyday, cant sleep beside you every night. I miss that we can't yell at the TV together when our teams are playing badly.
I miss our garage parties, dancing, sitting on the deck, going to the pub - in general I miss you.
This was not the path we had planned.
I have many memories that I will cherish forever and never forget.
I’m glad you are no longer in pain or suffering.
I was upset with god because he seemed to make you suffer for too long after things changed.
I will always love you and I will cherish my memories.
Rest in peace my love.
Miss you dearly.”
