Italia Maria Voglini

Italia Voglini passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the age of 90 years, surrounded by her family. Italia was born on November 25, 1935, in Sant'Andrea del Garigliano (FR), Italy. She married Rocco Voglini (deceased) on December 12, 1954. Like many new Canadians from Italy, Italia and her family moved to Canada and made Calgary their home.

Italia’s career included time at Pinecrest and Marks & Spencer, among others, before she retired. She found joy in preparing homemade meals—fresh pasta was one of her specialties.

Frequent road trips to B.C. became a cherished family ritual, complete with picnics and gathering fresh fruits and vegetables. They always returned with a car overflowing with tomatoes, soon to be transformed into "Italia's Famous Homemade Sauce". Entertaining friends and family with her cooking was one of her greatest pleasures.

Italia loved spending her free time gardening, cooking, and taking pride in looking after her home. She found happiness in simple pleasures: sipping a cappuccino on the weekend, strolls through the Hudson’s Bay, and creating beautiful blankets and sweaters through her crochet and knitting work.

Above all, Italia dedicated herself fully to her family, always working hard and giving her very best. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.

A private entombment took place at the mausoleum in Queen’s Park Cemetery on Friday, January 23, 2026.
