Born in Nordegg, Alberta, Jack was the youngest of four children to Frank and Emily Wohlgemuth (née Phillips).
Jack and Wendy met in November 1969 and were married on June 6, 1970 in Calgary, Alberta. They welcomed their son Jason in 1971 and their daughter Tracy in 1974.
Jack began his career as an apprentice with the Calgary Herald on October 6, 1964. Jack was a dedicated and highly respected member of the Herald for 41 years when he retired in September 2005.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of nearly 56 years, Wendy; cherished daughter Tracy; son-in-law David; and grandson Brandon; along with several nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Frank (1945) and Emily (1996); siblings Douglas (1938), Frank (1995) and Lilly (1997); his in-laws, Allan (1998) and Dora Peterson (2009); and his beloved son, Jason, in 2016.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and caregivers at St. Marguerite Manor for their kindness and compassion during Jack's final moments.
As it was Jack’s wish, there will be no funeral service, but a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jack's name to the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society, 5060 74 Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta.
