Jaysukhlal Trivedi passed away in peace at Foothills Medical Centre on Monday, April 18, 2011, aged 92 years. Born in Saurashtra, India, in 1919, he studied Sanskrit and received a first-class Honours BA in Languages from the University of Bombay in 1944. In 1946, he received a first-class MA in Sanskrit and Languages from Elphinstone College, University of Bombay, and awards for his studies in Hindi from the University of Bartha and for studies in the Gita from Benares Hindu University. He moved to Kenya as an education officer in 1948 and at his retirement was the Principal of the Nairobi Technical High School. He also taught mathematics at the Nairobi Technical High School, and Hindi and Sanskrit at Nairobi University. He moved to Calgary in 1978. In Nairobi, Mr. Trivedi was the President of the Theosophical Society and one of the founding members of the Nairobi Brahamsabha. Our father was loved deeply by his family and honored and respected by the community. The lessons of his kindness and spirituality will live within us forever. He is survived by his wife, Ansuya, his daughters Kokila (Dalip), Nivedita (Kiran), Rekha (Jal) and Meeta (Jim), his son Kishor (Harsha) and by his grandchildren, Pooja, Shivanand, Ravi, Deepal, Ashish and Jai. A Service of Remembrance will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queens Park Cemetery) on Friday, April 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to Radha Madhav Cultural Association.
