Jean Hoy passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 86 years. She spent her formative years in China. After her marriage on Boxing Day in 1956 she immigrated to Canada on April 17th 1957. Jean enjoyed many years of retirement from Foothills Hospital where she was a seamstress. She and her husband David enjoyed travelling and they returned to China eight times. They frequented Las Vegas countless times and ventured to other parts of Asia and Europe as well. She loved gardening but most of all she enjoyed her busy social life with family and friends. Many weekends were filled with banquet celebrations, fine food and karaoke.
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children and their families, Jim (Patricia) Hoy, Peter (Susan) Hoy, and Betty (Dan) Smith; and grandchildren Nicholas Hoy and Jasmin Smith all of Calgary.
Many thanks to the staff at Dulcina Hospice and Wing Kei Greenview for their dedicated care.
A celebration of life will be held for Jean’s family and friends at Foster’s Garden Chapel (3220 4th Street NW) on Saturday, December 17th between 1:30pm and 3:00pm. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery where Jean will be laid to rest with her late husband, David. Reception to follow at Calton’s Restaurant (#14 5010 4th Street NE)
