AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Joan Louise Macauley

21 décembre 1929 – 7 novembre 2023
Avis de décès de Joan Louise Macauley
AUX SOINS DE

South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium

It is with great sadness that we announce Joan passed away peacefully at the age of 93.

Despite the advancement of her dementia, Joan could still convey love to her family. Joan is missed and remembered by daughters Jan (Danielle, Justine, Aimee & Lani and great granddaughter Rylee) and Sharon (Michael, Sam & Jeremy).

Joan was predeceased by her husband George Macauley, parents, Henry and Mabel Andres and her brother, Bob Andres.

Joan was born and raised in Calgary, graduating from Western Canada High School. Following High School she lived a short time in Vancouver, later returning to Calgary to work as a Stenographer. Joan met George when they were both invited to join the same Bowling League. They celebrated 60 years of marriage shortly before George passing in 2016. They had genuine interest in each other and many shared adventures. George and Joan became Victoria Snowbirds, where they so appreciated the gorgeous display of spring blossoms, wonderful hiking trails, and many cherished friendships. They loved to walk along the ocean, in the neighbourhood and with their Victoria walking club. They traveled and explored the world partaking in several international walking tours. Joan and George shared a love of music and theatre, frequently attending various events. Both loved to play cards and host dinner parties. Joan excelled at the art of homemaking as an accomplished cook, baker, organizer, and seamstress. Joan cared deeply about her family. She valued the little things in life that cost nothing. She loved to read and was an amazing storyteller. She transcribed books into Braille for the CNIB and delivered hot meals with Meals on Wheels. She valued kindness and was a loyal, life-long friend to so many.

We are grateful for the ‘kindness’ and compassion from Health Care Partners at both Amica Brittania and Chinook Care Centre.
