

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce that John Anthony Barnes passed away peacefully at Kelowna General Hospital, on November 2, 2011 at the age of eighty-five. John will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife Jeanne, and their four children, Vernon (Helene), Lorraine (Charlie), Carolyn (Barry), and Reg, and grandchildren Angela, Jeremy, and Teresa (Alec), and his only great grandchild Haley. John was born in Veregan, Saskatchewan, July 6, 1926. He loved to sing and play the guitar, harmonica and banjo. He loved the outdoors, especially cross-country skiing, and won many metals at the Suns of Norway Ski for Light. On June 7, 1948 he married Jeanne Gouin in Calgary Alberta. They raised a family there and later retired to Kelowna where they made many new friends and enjoyed thirty-five years of living in their own home.
Prayer Services will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2011.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 219-18th Avenue SW, at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Following the mass, interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 3304 Erlton St. SW. His family greatly appreciates the love and support of any of you who can attend the celebration of his life.
