It is with profound sadness that the family of John Robert (J.R.) Jameson announces his passing on August 14, 2010 at the age of 69 years. J.R. relished his role as husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and mentor to all of his family and friends and the enduring memories of his spirit and zest for life will forever live in all who knew him. John was born in Byemoor, Alberta on January 16, 1941 to Robert and Hazel Jameson along with his sister Patsy (Patricia). He ventured from Byemoor to Big Valley for his senior year of high school in the pursuit of his dream of attending University and his dreams were realized when he graduated from the University of Alberta in 1963 with a degree in civil engineering and quickly set out into the world of pipeline construction with his typical passion and determination. John quickly achieved success and recognition within his industry and reached the senior levels of his profession at a young age. Included in his many achievements was the appointment of President of the Pipeline Contractors Association of Canada. Along with great personal success, John’s greatest source of pride and joy was the raising of his family along with his treasured partner and wife of forty-five years Evelyn Jameson (Dingwall) of Calgary, Alberta. John’s life and joy grew along with his family’s growth through the marriage of his children Grant (Tracy), Carri (Mike) and Troy (Lisa) and the arrival of his precious grandchildren Taylyn, Jesse, Brody, Emma, Kaity and Jake. In accordance with John’s wishes, a celebration of life will take place in his honour on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at SPRINGBANK COMMUNITY CHURCH located at 32242 Twp.Rd. 245, directions are available at www.springbankchurch.com. Friends are invited to celebrate in John’s style with his family. John’s family wishes to express sincerest gratitude to all the supporters and caregivers who administered John’s treatment with grace and dignity. The family requests that all expressions of love for John be directed to the Alberta Cancer Foundation c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre 1331 – 29 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 4N2 in the continuing research of liver cancer and treatment. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
