Kate Schmidt (nee Dombrowski)

Kate Schmidt passed away peacefully, at the Bowcrest Care Residence, on Monday, March 21, 2016 at the age of 82 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband Helmut Schmidt. Kate is lovingly remembered by her Son Peter (Tracy) Schmidt, Daughter Rosita (Laurence) Codd, and grandchildren Jennifer and Derek. She is survived by her siblings Almut (Willi) Epkes, Anna Albert, Jurgen (Hilda) Dombrowski, and Wilhelmine (Karl) Gorke in Germany. Kate was born in the small town of Apen, Germany, into a large family of 9 sisters and brothers. As a brave young woman, Kate moved to Canada in 1956 and married her loving husband Helmut in 1957 in Calgary, where they settled and built their life and family home together. Kate had a wonderful sense of humor and always created long lasting friendships wherever she went. Special thank you to all those people that touched her life and made her last years unforgettable!
