Husband of 34 years to Sue, father to Cheryl (Alex), Eileen, Donna and Paula, proud grandfather to Owen and Maia. Brother to Kim, predeceased by his parents Mui Len Phang and Chen Kee Ng.
As well as being a lover of golf, tai chi, music, good food and quality time with friends, Keith was a family man who always put others first.
Born in Kuala Belait, Brunei on November 24, 1953, Keith was an engineer by profession and by nature. He was academically focused and loved to learn. Keith earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Surrey before working for Brunei Shell for a few years and completing his Masters of Science in Ocean Engineering at the University College London. From there, he immigrated to Toronto, moved to Vancouver, and eventually settled in Calgary, where he met his wife Sue and raised his four daughters.
Keith’s career took him all over the world, with projects in Vietnam, France and off the eastern coast of Canada. At home, he was always an early riser, often getting in 18 holes before his daughters had gotten out of bed. Post-retirement, you could find Keith working at polling stations and volunteering at the food bank, the Chinese Cultural Centre, various professional golf and speed skating tournaments, and more. Keith was dedicated in all aspects of his life – he was generous and loving, and he will be truly missed.
