

Laszlo (Leslie) Feher, at the age of 84 years, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Friday, May 11, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born in Szolnok, Hungary on January 18, 1928. Leslie was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Janos, and his thirteen siblings. He is lovingly remembered by his caring and devoted wife of fifty-four years, Gabriella; son, Leslie Feher; daughter, Victoria Smith (Peter Smith); and his very precious grandson, Donavan Smith. Leslie left Hungary as a seventeen year old recruit to the Hungarian army and was taken to Germany. After surrendering to the French army, he served for them for nine months. Leslie stayed in Strasbourg, France for five years. In 1951, he immigrated to Canada. Leslie worked odd jobs until January 1956, when he became an employee of Maple Leaf Mills. Leslie worked there until his retirement in January 1988. He enjoyed his retirement with his wife travelling, gardening and spending time with his family. Leslie was very active in the Hungarian community. He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church since his arrival to Canada, as well as having an active role in the Hungarian Cultural Association. Friends and family are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 819 – 13 Avenue S.W. Calgary on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 2:30p.m.; officiated by The Reverend Lawrence Manolache. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery, 3219 – 4 Street N.W. Calgary, with transportation provided. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff of the Rockyview Hospital Emergency, Tom Baker Cancer Center, Dr. Lupichuk and nurse Rae, the doctors and nurses of Unit 36 and the emergency at Foothills Hospital, Unit 44 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, Dr. Datta, Dr. Rosen, the palliative care nurses and Dr. Cole and Dr. Lee. Prayers are the most valuable gifts of all. Thank you to all of those who prayed for Leslie.
