The family is saddened to announce that Leopoldine “Poldi” passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025.
Originally from Austria, Poldi immigrated to Canada in 1956. It was here that she met the love of her life, Philip, and they were married in December 1957. The two shared a remarkable 67 years of marriage before Philip’s passing in 2024.
Poldi began working at the Hudson's Bay cafeteria, where she formed several lifelong friendships and joyfully participated in the Bay’s Christmas Choir each year. Her adventurous spirit took her and Philip across the United States for many years, following his career. Eventually, Poldi returned to Calgary, where she laid down roots and worked at Pan Alberta Gas.
Poldi and her husband loved to travel world wide and also embarked on many cruises. She loved long walks year round in Fish Creek Park, gardening in her yard and cooking for visiting family and friends.
She will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humour, warmth and her kindness, she was always happy to lend a helping hand wherever she could. She will be lovingly remembered by those whose lives she touched.
