It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Dail McAuley. Linda was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, a cherished friend, a treasured coworker and a vital community member. She passed away on April 8, 2026 after complications that developed from a sudden stroke.
Linda was born in Flin Flon Manitoba in 1945, the youngest of three children. She moved to McAuley Manitoba in 1965 as an elementary school teacher, and found the person she was going to spend the rest of her life with: Richard McAuley. They married in 1968 and lived most of their life together in McAuley, raising two daughters, Erin and Angela. After retirement, they spent more time at her beloved cabin at Clear Lake and living in Brandon Manitoba. They then moved to Calgary Alberta in 2013 to be closer to their grandchildren.
Linda opened her successful travel agency McPhail Travel in Moosomin, Saskatchewan in the late 1980’s. She was president of ACTA Saskatchewan and she loved helping clients with their travel needs, leading group tours and discovering new places around the world.
Linda was very active in every community she lived in. She was a lifelong TOPS member, she was a valued part of many volunteer boards and she immensely enjoyed working part time at London Drugs, often commenting how nice her coworkers were to her. She loved to walk every day (especially with Bentley), and drive anywhere she wanted to go whether that was picking something up at the grocery store, finding a gift, getting coffee with a friend, or finding a treasure at Good Will.
Linda loved family time, she would drop everything to attend a grandchild’s dance recital, taekwondo tournament or soccer game. She was present at graduations and many birthday celebrations, as well as family dinners (she loved to bring buns!) Linda was a person who didn’t stand around and wait for someone else to do something – if there was work to be done, she did it. She was very proud of her plants, particularly her front garden and her beloved Norfolk pine tree that she named Cody, after her grandson who passed away in 2010. She relished her time spent with the Salvation Army Church whether it be attending services or volunteering, she had nothing but lovely things to say about Pastor Bob his wife Charmaine and the entire congregation.
Linda is survived by her husband Richard (Dick), her daughters Erin and Angie, her sons in law Boyd and Jason, her grandchildren Lila, Kelly and Alastair. She was predeceased by her grandson Cody, her brother Dick McCutcheon and sister Maxine Rogers.
A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Berkshire Salvation Army Church, 222 Sandarac Drive N.W., Calgary, AB.
Linda lived each day to the fullest and she would wish the same for every one of you.
