Lloyd passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, July 13, 2013 in Calgary, AB as a result of a heart attack.
Lloyd is fondly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 64 years, Tillie; daughters Myrna (Art) Andres of Calgary and Judy (Tony) Dubauskas of Victoria; grandchildren Jared and Lindsay Andres. He was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Abbie Snow, and siblings Eugene Snow, Amy Snow, Viola (Pat) Nessel and Clara Lachance. Lloyd’s first job was teaching in a country school. He then served in the RCAF from 1942-45 as an airframe mechanic in Trenton, ON. During his university studies, he met Tillie (Brown), and they were married in New Sarepta, AB on September 16, 1948. After graduating from the University of Alberta in 1950 with a BSc in Electrical Engineering, Lloyd enjoyed a 35 year career with Calgary Power/TransAlta Utilities. His favourite pastimes included square dancing, handyman tasks, genealogy, and photo/video projects on his computer. Lloyd particularly enjoyed travel, taking frequent vacations by Vanagon and on bus tours throughout the world. He was always ready with a helping hand on any building or repair task and was a Community Volunteer Income Tax Preparer for many years. Lloyd was known for his keen mind, generosity and zest for life.
A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Canadian Red Cross, Calgary Flood Disaster Relief Fund, 100, 1305-11 Avenue S.W. Calgary, AB T3C 3P6. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
