It is with a heavy heart that the family of Louise Schroeder announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Louise will be remembered for her amazing sense of style, gentle personality and love for cooking, going for walks, sewing and animals.
Louise was born and raised in Berlin, Germany. Although she experienced much adversity growing up in WWII, she was surrounded by a loving family who persevered through the difficult times together.
It was in Berlin that she met the love of her life, Horst Schroeder. The two only had eyes for each other and were married shortly after. She, with her Marilyn Monroe good-looks and him, with his rugged, James Dean style, made quite the handsome pair!
After being married for a couple years, Louise and Horst decided to embark on a new adventure and immigrate to Canada. They chose Alberta after seeing a photo of Lake Louise (and forever after, she would tell people that her name was Louise… like Lake Louise!)
Shortly after their arrival to Canada, they started a family and had two beautiful daughters, Dale & Marilyn. Together they enjoyed camping, family bbqs, playing games and traveling back to Germany to visit family.
Later, Louise and Horst were overjoyed to have four wonderful granddaughters; Chantel, Rachel, Stephanie and Jennifer.
She was truly a devoted grandmother who was dedicated to making the ordinary special. Chantel and Rachel will always remember how she made their Halloween costumes and fancy Christmas dresses. She’d host special sleepovers and make sure the girls got a matching silk nightgown to match hers and they’d stay up watching movies and playing games. There was always an endless supply of cheese buns, gummy bears, ice cream bars and bbq chips waiting to be enjoyed.
In her later years, Louise enjoyed a wonderful friendship with her dear pal Bonnie. The two would go for lunch and enjoy shopping trips together. Louise was truly grateful for her friendship.
Louise joins her husband, Horst, and daughters, Dale and Marilyn, in heaven. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Louise leaves behind Chantel (Jack) Cruikshank, Rachel Sciore, Adelmo Sciore, Jennifer (Richard) Newman, Stephanie (Ronald) Gowers, Anthony (Cheeseman) and Peter (Elizabeth) Nietschmann and their extended families.
