Our darling sister and aunt, Margaret, has left us on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 to join her beloved husband Neil, who passed away in January 2021. She led a remarkable life and overcame many obstacles, with courage and love for all the people dear to her.
Margaret was born and raised in Calgary. She attended Erlton, Haultain, and Western Canada High School. Margaret met her husband, Neil, at a school dance and they remained devoted to one another through high school, and her nurses' training at Calgary General Hospital. They were married in 1963, just prior to her graduation from nursing.
Margaret and Neil loved the out-of-doors, and took every opportunity to travel, hike and ski in the mountains. They loved camping in Kananaskis, and shared their favourite places with their niece and nephews at a young age. They spent many summers in Polson, Montana, and in later life travelled with their RV through British Columbia. They enjoyed staying in Victoria, which had a lovely campground on the water.
She is survived by her sister, Kathy Gaudi (Sandor), her niece Susan Gaudi, and her nephews, John Gaudi (Aimee), and Thomas Gaudi. She is also survived by her great nephews, Christian and Neil, and her great nieces, Beatrix, Maggie, and Alexandra. Margaret is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Marion McKay, her brother David McKay, and her husband, Neil Tyler.
Margaret held her friends close to her heart, and they remained loyal to her during her last few months of life. She suffered a stroke following heart surgery, and was left with very little mobility. We are very thankful for all the support her friends so faithfully gave to her, and to us as a family.
We would like to thank the staff at ALC Carewest Sarcee for their support. She loved to go out in the gardens while she was there. She received excellent care at Southwood Care Centre, during the last few weeks of her life. We thank Dr. John Han, as well as all the nursing and support staff. They made a huge effort to keep us informed and included us in Margaret's healthcare.
Margaret was cremated and will be interred at a future date with her husband Neil, in keeping with her wishes. We will plan a Celebration of Life for all her friends and family in the New Year, when the weather is warmer.
