Margaret was born March 11, 1953, in Toronto, to Alexander Johnstone Morrison and Margorie Lauraine Morrison. She was exactly in the middle of the family. One of thirteen children. When Marg was a teen the family moved from the city north, to Milliken, Ontario. It was here she made friends with local youth and classmates and began attending the Hagerman Mennonite Church. Under the ministry of the Reverend Emerson McDowell, Marg participated in Church services, youth events, summer camps, singing groups, and other various Church programs. All these aspects of Christian life began to resonate within Marg, and while still a teen she gave her heart to the Lord Jesus and was Born Again. Her Dad and Mum could not be more pleased, as they too were sincere believers.
It was about this time Marg made the acquaintance of one Robert John Whiteway, more commonly known as Bob. They each felt an attraction to one another and a friendship ensued. In the years that followed, a deepening emotional attachment developed between them and they decided to marry. They were wed on April 7, 1971. It is significant to note that this past April, Marg & Bob celebrated 50 years of married life!
In 1976, thru a life-threatening industrial accident suffered by Bob, they felt a desire to know God and have his provisions/protections in their lives. Within the year Bob was brought to the saving grace of Jesus and Marg renewed her devotion and commitment that she initiated years before. In the next two years, as their new faith began to grow, they discovered an exciting opportunity to re-enter in to a life of service for the Lord.
The life of Ministry was well suited to Marg. The deep love and devotion she had for her immediate family, she simply enlarged her heart to extend that to everyone. Countless people have expressed how Marg became as a Mother to them. She had a unique gift and deep capacity to love everyone. Caring for the Church became second nature to her. When immigrants to Canada, and refugees would land in Toronto, Marg would be about getting them settled with lodgings, belongings, and staples for life.
She constantly breathed life into the local Church. She was a blessing and blessed everything to which she put her hand. Marg brought her own particular style and degree of enthusiasm to all she did. In prayer and praise, preaching and teaching, planning and organization, children’s and youth activities, camps and cooking, caring and comfort, she excelled at it all. She labored tirelessly to ensure events like Convention, youth camps, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas were special to all. She was deeply interested in the well being of all, physically, materially, and above all spiritually. Caring for newcomers to the Church and young people were especially near and dear to her heart.
She loved expounding the word of God and did so with refreshing zeal and energy.
Many found her teachings enlightening and inspirational. Marg was always fervent in her times of devotion and prayer, being an example of how she thought we all should be. As King David of old, Marg could often be seen worshipping God in Spirit, with all her heart, and dancing as David did. In doing so, she inspired many to new experiences and depths of devotion.
A Godly woman, a devoted wife and mother, and grandmother, a dedicated servant of God, a gift and a blessing to thousands, a perfected life. Marg was all of these.
