Mrs. Marjorie Louise Jones

Sadly we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend Marjorie Louise Jones. Marjorie passed away on March 4, 2015 in her 94th year, after a year of declining health. Marjorie is survived by her five loving children: Louise (Ron) of Kamloops, Patricia (Don) of Cochrane, Lynne (Bill) of Victoria, Bruce (Darlene) of Vernon, and Dianne of Calgary. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeff, Shawna, Melanie, Heather, David, Wade, Dean, Amanda, Scott, Nichole, Corey, and their families that include 22 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Marguerite, many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Marjorie was predeceased by her mother Minnie Louise, her father Cecil Legate and her loving husband Harry. As Margery: she was born in Drumheller, Alberta, on November 10, 1921 and happily raised there. Special memories include her dear friend Ruth, and having her sister Enid as her teacher and her mother as principal during high school. Marjorie received her B.Sc in Home Ec, followed by teacher training at the University of Alberta. She enjoyed teaching in Cluny and Olds before marriage to Dentistry student Harry Jones in 1944. She led a very busy life as a devoted wife and mother of her five beloved and very active children. Marjorie was an accomplished card and bridge player, a great golf partner and an excellent curler. She was proud to represent Alberta at the Senior Women’s National Championships. We so enjoyed her talented piano playing and our many visits and travels together. Mum always put the health and happiness of her family first. We will sorely miss her loving ways and warm embrace. Marjorie was a long time parishioner of St. Cyprian’s/Holy Cross Anglican Church, her funeral service will be held 1:30 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 1611 St. Andrews Place NW.
