Mary Sim (Henzig/Ritter)

Mary Sim passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 83 years. Mary was a resident and dialysis patient at the Carewest Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre, receiving gracious care from the staff there over the past 15 months.

Mary was born in Miltenberg, Germany in 1942 and immigrated to Canada in 1952 with her family. They later settled on a farm near Clyde, Alberta and eventually moved to Calgary, where she worked for many years at the Four Hundred Club and raised a family. Mary loved spending time with family and enjoyed traveling.

Mary is survived, and lovingly missed, by her husband David Sim, children from her first marriage; daughter Karin McNeil (Grant), son Dieter Henzig, grandchildren Brady and Jeremy McNeil, grandchildren Chandelle (Andrew) and Darian (Levi), great grandchildren Ryan, Olivia, Braylee and Dieken, brother Fred Ritter (Val) and sister Olga Engel, as well as various nieces and nephews. David’s sons, Stephen (Pam) and Mark (Diane) Sim, and their families. Mary was predeceased by her sister (Frieda) and brother-in-law Erwin Wieninger.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Nephrologists Dr. David Ward and Dr. Ronald Hons at Alberta Health Services (Foothills) and the staff at the Northland Renal Clinic for their support.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
