Dearest Mavis,
My dearest friend since 1977. Since coming to Centennial we had many discussions about family and church families in need. The phone would ring; Priscilla are you going out? Yes-Can you pick me up? I have a box to mail. Often I would find her on my travels to Walmart and arrange to drive her home. When David and I separated, Christopher told his dad that I needed the car because it was the fellowship taxi all because we would load it up for shopping.
Mavis was very supportive and we would drive Keith home after Church. She worked hard for WMS and would go with me to meetings.

Most important, her kitchen was our best meeting spot and she would produce ma y beautiful dresses and curtains for me
 She was loved by my children who took her as their other mother.

Mavis, you led a full life. You were a true friend and a true Christian sister. My heart bleeds that I was unable to see you, eventhough Rev Che constantly updated me of your well being. 

I loved you and still love you. I hope i can have another great friend for the rest of my days. Farewell sister.

Mavis was a good friend and mentor(we had fun along the journey). She touched many lives and will be missed. Mavis has left us all with our  personal experiences  which we can cherish forever.  Rest in peace my dear friend.

At the beginning and at the end of my ministry, Mavis was there for me and I thank God for her life and witness. So glad I was able to “attend” the service for her - a silver lining of the pandemic and a wonderful witness to the resurrection as Holy Week begins. 


A rare gem, an exceptionally loving friend and mother. I am proud that my family had the opportunity to connect with you, learn from you and serve you. Our last meeting on Jan 20th 2020 gave us another chance to share your smilea. We pray for your peaceful repose. Your memories will be with us forever.

I can remember my Uncle Steve Nembhard telling me about Aunt Daisy.  On my visit to Belize from Edmonton Alberta Canada in 2016. It made me excited  as Calgary is a 45 minutes flight away.  On my return to Edmonton I ensured I first gave her a call. Introducing myself to her. We spoke for almost 3 hours, she had many exciting, and educational stories and experiences.  I admired her calmness, wisdom, and awesome memories. My fascination was her love for humanity. Her family and friends were her passion. In difficult times she was resilient and motivated to overcome and be victorious. You are, you were an amazing ambassador for our Lord Jesus Christ 🙏. 

If I wasn’t spoiled already she sure did add on to that. Introducing me to the fancier things in life. I’m so happy I got to spend time with you and thank you for the things you did for me. Love you always and forever, grandma. RIP. 

As she always ended our chats, “Ok dawlin, we’ll talk again.” ...and we definitely made sure we talked again. Today, more than ever, I’m missing her. Didn’t realize how much I would miss those chats but I’m super thankful that we took time for each other; to chat often &  travel on occasions. I’ll forever remember her smile, her laugh, her inviting personality. She’s one of a kind! Oh, Grandma  dawlin! We’ll talk again.❤️

My condolence goes out to the family. I have known Mavis from  the early 70's while working at the Calgary General Hospital.I would like to say Mavis was a kind and compassionate person to me in training me as a nurse on the unit.Our friendship developed more when she started visiting our church functions.She really loved the Lord and was supportive. I can't forget the evening when she and her friend Kathy came to support me at the time of my husband's death. She was very caring, and always ask me how my children are doing.I did visit her in the nursing home Sad to see her go But God knows everything. Rest in peace Mavis.

Aunt Daisy cared for each and every single person in the family.  She loved and helped as much as possible.  I remember graduating from junior college and I sent her some pictures and she sent one back all the way from Canada in a frame.  I love pictures but don't think I ever framed one until auntie gave me that gift.  That was also when I found out the strength of the Canadian dollar because she also gave a monetary gift and I was so excited.  She is an admirable lady and one with class, we hold her in high regard because of the way she carries herself and the way she treated us.  You will be missed!
