

Moo Wong passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the age of 83 years. Moo was born in Toishan, China and immigrated to Canada in 1952 at the age of 21 years and worked alongside his father in a small town in Alberta. A year and half later, he moved to Calgary and struck out on his own doubling his salary. After working for another 2 and a half years, he went to Hong Kong, married and bought a flat. A year later, he came back to Calgary and has since made it his home. He worked as a chef and restaurateur until his retirement. Some of the establishments that he worked at include Esquire Café, Chopsticks Foods, China Night, Lucifer’s, Shanghai, Gold Horse and Wong’s Restaurant in Esso Plaza. Moo is survived by his devoted wife Ching of 59 years and 7 children: Kin Chi [Janet nee Leong and children Stephen, Scott and Spencer], Kenny [Yam Yi nee Fong and children Peter, Michael, and Daisy], Eddy, Dixie [Jim So and children Chelsea, Jonathan and Alexander], Linda [Kevin Chan and children Lawrence, Lorilei, and Lathan], Shirley [Dennis Low and child Justin] and Dave [ Natalie nee Nicholson]. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Kong officiating. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, Suite 100,119 - 14 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 1Z6.
