Nancy Kathleen Shatto

Nancy Kathleen Shatto passed away in Coquitlam, BC on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the age of 90 years. Nancy was born on October 17, 1925 in Lacombe, AB to James Clarence French and Viola French. She had one sister, Shirley who passed away at the age of four; this tragedy inspired a vow to have more than two children of her own. Nancy married Donald Clinton Shatto in Edmonton, AB on April 28, 1956. She was a homemaker most of her life, and kept the books for her husband’s business. Nancy lived in The Pas, MB; Edmonton, AB; Thetis Island, BC; Longview, AB; Calgary, AB; Newport Beach, CA; Abbotsford, BC; Powell River, BC; Qualicum Bay, BC; N Vancouver, BC; Pitt Meadows, BC; Coquitlam, BC. She enjoyed playing and teaching piano and organ, and was an accomplished accompanist for thousands of services and performances. Nancy was a devout Christian who had a personal faith in Jesus Christ. She loved people and became dear friends with those whom she got to know. Nancy poured herself into meeting others’ needs. In her later years, she enjoyed quiet walks, tea-time and bible studies with close friends. She is survived by her four children: Richard (and Sonya) Shatto, Abbotsford, BC; Pamela (and Barry) Berstad, Calgary AB; Sandra (and Michael) Lyon, Pitt Meadows, BC; Paul (and Larissa Walters) Shatto, Burnaby, BC; seven grandchildren: Jason (and Teresa) Berstad, Calgary, AB; Jamie (and Kelly) Sereda, Calgary, AB; Rachel (and Matt) Conley, Whistler, BC; David Lyon, Victoria, BC; Clarence Shatto, Emerald Shatto and Austin Shatto, Abbotsford, BC; and four great-grandchildren: Conner, Krista and Marcus Berstad; and Carter and Avery Sereda. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Donald Shatto, November 14, 2002. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Fond memories and tributes may be posted to her Facebook page.
