March 12, 1928 – March 04, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Olga Phillips in Calgary (formerly Sidney BC) after a long illness at the age of 83 years. Olga was born in Smoky Lake AB and subsequently moved to Edmonton. It was here that she met her husband Ted who served as a Major in the Canadian Armed Forces and later retired and sold real estate in Sidney BC. Together they lived successively in Edmonton AB, Ajax ON, Bagotville Quebec, Zweibrucken Germany, Trenton ON, and Cold Lake AB. Although her last years were darkened by dementia and her stroke, she always had a smile for her family and her gentle and loving nature prevailed. She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Vera Kochanuk, her husband Ted (2009), son Gary (2007) and her brother Bill (1989). A devoted mother, Olga is survived by her son Glen, his wife Irene, grandchildren Andrew (Carrie), Jordan (Ashlee), Peter (Kristen) and Stacey, great grandchildren Laysan, Hudson and Makenna. She will also be missed by her brother John (Ruth) Kochanuk of Mississauga, Ontario. The Family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Eau Claire Retirement Residence (Calgary) for their loving care of Olga while she resided there. Private commemoration planned. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
