It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Dzus on Saturday, May 18, 2019 in Calgary, Alberta. He was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on June 20, 1937. Peter lived on the family farm in Hope Valley, Alberta until the farm was sold and the family moved to Kitscoty, Alberta. He finished High School in Kitscoty. Peter enjoyed golf, curling, swimming, hockey, hunting and fishing, and both downhill and water skiing. He got great satisfaction out of fixing and constructing things himself. Peter enjoyed a 50 year oilfield career, working for Continental EMSCO; LTV Energy Products; CEF Franklin and Dzus Production Services, finally retiring at the age of 70. Peter is survived by his loving wife Marg; Children Belinda (Vince), Glenn (Suzanne), Lorel, Carol and Corinne (John); Grandchildren Kerrigan, Chinook, Dylan, Emma and Alexia; Great Granddaughter Lavinnia; Nephews Edward (Diane) and Donald (Mary). To honour Peter’s Last Will and Testament we will not be holding a funeral service, celebration of life, or gathering “whatsoever” (Whatsoever is Peter’s word and his way of making sure we understand the gravity behind his wish). Please cherish all of your memories of Peter, especially the funny ones. If friends so desire in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta www.heartandstroke.ca; or Foothills Hospital https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/fmc/Page14092.aspx.

  • At Peter's request, no formal service will be held

Peter was a great neighbour and friend. He always had a smile and greeting for us. I will miss his knock on the front door to go for coffee at Tim Hortons. We would discuss the state of the world and joke about how we old guys would put things right. Peter had a great sense of humour and had a store of funny stories. I was having tooth trouble and he came over one day with a huge pair of pliers offering to help out. His passing is a great loss and we will really miss him. Peter will always be in our thoughts and memories. Sally and Martin

He was a great man. Met him 25 years ago when asking questions about pumps and mechanical systems. He always gave me the time of day and was so helpful. I enjoyed his genuine honest-to-goodness nature . He mentored me over the years and I totally appreciated his knowledge and help. I wish his family well and treasure the memories of this great man. I always enjoyed Peter’s sense of humour and optimism especially regarding Calgary winter and Alberta politics. The neighbourhood has lost a special person.
