Peter Squire Ffoulkes-Jones

June 30, 1939 – February 3, 2013

Peter passed away Sunday morning at the age of 73 years after a valiant battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Shauna (Mike) Ciezki; son Trevalyn (Daphne) Ffoulkes-Jones; grandchildren Cailyn, Stephen, Kylie Ciezki. Peter is also survived by his brother David (Marlene) Ffoulkes-Jones, sister Joanna (Peter) Forrest and numerous nieces and nephews. Peter was born in LaBrea, Trinidad before moving to England in 1947, finally emigrating to Canada in 1954 at the age of 15. He graduated from Crescent Heights High School and later studied at the University of Alberta, receiving his BSc in Petroleum Engineering in 1963. Peter was well known and respected within the Oil and Gas industry where he held a number of positions throughout the years. He worked on the oil rigs, was President and CEO of Petrorep (Canada) Ltd., spent time in Tunisia assisting in a company set up and sat on numerous boards for private/public corporations before retiring in 2004. Peter enjoyed traveling to the Dominican Republic, U.K., Trinidad, Mexico, Portugal and the U.S. with his late wife, Maureen. But Peter’s favorite place to spend time was in Fanny Bay, Vancouver Island where he made many friends. Here he enjoyed gardening, digging for clams/oysters and sitting on the deck while taking in the ocean air. Peter was an avid outdoorsman and participated in an annual fishing trip with friends for 24 years. Peter touched the hearts and lives of many people. He was admired for his sharp mind, quick wit and generous nature. Peter was predeceased by his parents Geoffrey and Alice, his sister Jacquie and his second wife Maureen. A Celebration of Peter’s Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the Calgary Elks Lodge and Golf Club, 2502 – 6 Street N.E., Calgary following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made in Peter’s name directly to Hospice Calgary, 1245 – 70 Avenue S.E., T2H 2X8. Phone 403-263-4525.
