Reta Joan McFarlane

1931-2019

Our loving Mom, Reta McFarlane, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at the age of 87 in Calgary, Alberta. She has now joined her beloved husband, Ted, who predeceased her on June 4, 1995.

Reta Joan McFarlane (Holmes) was born in Dundas, Ontario on November 23, 1931, to Horace and Charlotte Holmes. After being a stay-at-home Mom for many years she bravely ventured out into the working world and went on to spend almost 30 years in the retail sector, taking great pride in working in the fur salon at Robinson's, at Reitman's, and as a manager at D' Aillards before retiring. She moved to Calgary in 2007 to be closer to some of her family and lived at Boardwalk Retirement Community where she made many long-time friends.

She leaves behind her sisters; Dorothy Martin and Carole Granger; her daughters, Kathie Cunningham (Jeff Kingsbury) and Sandy Cunningham; sons, Paul and Glenn Cunningham (Myrna); grandchildren, Lana Norman (Ryan), Dylan, Lindsey and Haley Cunningham; precious great-granddaughters; Adelaide and Amorie, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is remembered with love by her former daughter-in-law, Ingrid. She is predeceased by her husband Ted (Arthur Nelson) McFarlane; brothers Gordon Holmes (Ethel), William Holmes (Dorothy) and her sister Muriel Irene Holmes.

A special thank you to the Staff at Hope West at St. Teresa Place Covenant Care for the excellent care our Mom received during this past year.

There will be a small service at St. Stephen-On-The-Mount Anglican Church, 625 Concession Street, Hamilton in the immediate future, and interment of ashes at Grove Cemetery in Dundas, Ontario.
