Robert (Bob) will be loving remembered by his children Debi (Scott), Doug (Mavis), Karen (David) and Patti (Rick); grandchildren Kristen (Jon), Mark (Sara)and Rachel (Quinton); brother-in-law Don (Phyllis) Ketcheson; as well as nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend, Margaret Elaine Kjeldson, after 65 years of a wonderful marriage; and by his parents, Alfred and Gladys Kjeldson.
Bob was a shy, kind, and honest man that never complained or spoke poorly of others. He was loving and generous to his family, including his beautiful grand-cat, Lexi, who spent many hours by his side. He knew what he wanted and never wavered in his decisions and was a constant pillar of strength. He was admired and respected and set the bar high as an example for others to follow.
He was an avid reader and cook and was particular about every detail of his kitchen, much to the chagrin of those on the receiving end of his criticism. He loved sports and especially golf which he played with Margaret and friends. He also enjoyed whipping his opponents in a game of bridge or cribbage. He loved to drive, explore new sightings and show visitors around town. He laughed and shared jokes with his wife and was always a gracious host when entertaining or visiting friends.
He was very intelligent, graduating at the top of his class and was honored with many awards which helped secure a successful career as a Chartered Accountant at a very young age. He had a wonderful life after retiring as Comptroller from Esso Resources in 1986 and enjoyed being a snowbird and traveling with his beloved wife.
Bob will be greatly missed by family and friends but are relieved he is now at peace and pain free. A special thank you to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, his Doctors and Palliative Care Team that helped make him as comfortable as possible and provide kindness and support to the family.
A Private Family Celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, www.cancer.ca or a charity of your choice. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
