Ruby May Johnstone

She was born to the late Peter Wesley Cummings and Margaret Renetta Northey on November 5, 1917. Ruby was the third youngest of nine siblings; Herbert, Stella, Ellen, George, Gilbert, Margaret, Leonard (Bud) and Dorothy Cummings. Ruby grew up in Rimbey, Alberta, and eventually relocated to Calgary, Alberta, where she operated an importing business and beauty salon for many years. Ruby’s greatest loves were family, friends and laughter. She had a zeal for life’s adventures. Ruby was mother to Arnold and Connie Porter, Conrad, Robert and Brant Johnstone. Ruby is survived by her five children, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Many friends and family will miss her as well.

A Funeral Service is scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Fosters Garden Chapel, 3220 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2M 3A5 (403) 297-0888. There will be a viewing on Thursday, July 10, 2014 between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. as well as just before the service on Friday. The family would like to thank Mom’s caring and loving care givers from the Prince of Peace Harbour and the kind people at Foster's Garden Chapel. They are truly amazing for the work they do and the tender compassion that flows from their hearts.
