

Rudolf Serbet passed away peacefully on February 3, 2014 in the Foothills Hospital Calgary at the age of 86 years. Rudolf was a loving father to son’s Ernest Jassmann (Karen Arnaud) of Calgary, Rudolph (Wendy Grant) of Lawrence, Kansas, George of Lloydminister, Kathleen (Deceased) of Calgary, and Trudy of Michigan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Leah, Bryce, Sharyn, Evelyn, Ryan, Stephanie, Marcus, Tina, Natalie, Zachary, Ray, Suzanne, Charles and great grandfather to Destiny and Donovan.
Rudolf was born in Vizvár, Hungary in 1928, and immigrated to Canada in 1951. He first worked as a lumberjack in the forests of Quebec and then as a hospital custodian in Ottawa. He moved to Toronto and worked as plasterer and drywall finisher. He moved to Calgary, married Magdalena (Brampton, Ontario) and had three children. After his separation, he met Magdalene Jassmann (Deceased) and added two more children to the family. He continued to work as a drywall finisher throughout Calgary and retired at 61.
Throughout his life, Rudolf was always a caring and loving father. He enjoyed playing with all of his grandchildren and walking them to school and back. When you walked into a room he was always there to meet you with a smile and hello.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at the Foothills Hospital for their professionalism, compassion, and dedication to Rudy during his time with them.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth of Hungary (819 - 13 Avenue SW) Calgary on Thursday February 6, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. Flowers are respectfully declined, however, if friends so desire, a donation can be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, #200, 325 Manning Rd NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5 or to the charity of your choice.
