Dear Cheryl,

Just learned of Sam's passing in John Gilchrist's column. Shel and I are so sorry to hear and offer you our heartfelt condolences. We started eating at Yuzuki in Acadia before you and Sam were married and I could never ever find anyone who made as good a Yakisoba as Sam. We loved the sushi as well and continue eating it to this day. The great food at your restaurant changed our eating habits forever. We will always think fondly of the two of you.

We are very sorry to hear of Sakae's passing. I have many fond memories of Sakae as we went to the same highschool before coming to Canada together. He was a wonderful friend and judo teammate. Our deepest condolences.

So sorry to hear of Sam's passing.  I remember first meeting him at your restaurant, and he struck me as a very gentle, shy and caring man.  We certainly enjoyed his food over the years when we visited Calgary.  On behalf of Len, Steve and their families, and myself, our deepest sympathies are with the family at this time of sadness.  We hope that memories of your time together will comfort you and keep him close in your hearts.

So sorry to hear of Sam's passing. He was a wonderful man and I have many fond memories of visiting Sam and spending time at the restaurant watching the train go round and lots of great food. I'm sure you will find comfort in your memories as well.

I am so sorry for your loss. 
My parents really enjoyed having Sam over every weekend for the parties in their basement, eating & sininging when Sam & the other "boys" first came to Canada from Okinawa. They were very proud how successful he was in his life.

Catherine and I pass on our sincere condolences and thoughts to you and your family. We spent many fine hours in your Yuzuki restaurant, enjoying your fine company and Sam's great sushi. I learned so much about sushi and Japanese food from him at a time when there was little of either in Calgary. (We even went a few times to the original Yuzuki in Acadia.) Sam was always a gracious host and a meticulous craftsman and remains a pioneer of global cuisine in Calgary.

Cheryl, I knew from the moment that you met each other, that you were soulmates, which is why I made it my mission to play Cupid so many years ago.  Bryan and I feel your family's loss deeply.
