Our loving, sweet, gentle, wondrous Shelly, beloved wife of Derek Pauletto and amazing mom to daughter Mady (11) and son Jaxx (9) passed away suddenly and tragically on February 13, 2014. She will be forever in the hearts of her parents Jim and Mona Ottenbreit, her sister Melanie Ottenbreit-Smith, her brother-in-law Steve Smith and their children Braxton, Cade and Rowan, Derek’s parents Luciano and Edie Pauletto and her brother-in-law Richard Pauletto.
Shelly spent her younger years playing, camping and laughing with mom, dad and Mel, in Calgary, Alberta. She had a life full of family and friends. Quite simply she touched everyone she met. In 1993 she started dating the love of her life, Derek. Shelly enjoyed Derek’s passion for motorcycles and was happy to ride passenger on all their rally adventures. In the 21 years they were together Shelly and Derek also accomplished her dream of buying a house that was all her own. She took great pleasure in making her house their home and enjoyed baking – always following the recipe to the tee. Her life was fulfilled with the births of her two gorgeous children to complete her family. Being a mother was Shelly’s most important priority and in her mind her greatest accomplishment. Mady and Jaxx brought such joy to Shelly’s life. She lived the high life of caviar and champagne. Okay, not so much as she was too practical and that simply would have been a waste of money! Instead it was diapers and baby drool and she wouldn’t have changed a single minute. Shelly was a private person who enjoyed the simple things. Her value system was strong and her evenings and weekends were full of family suppers, games and trips to the cabin. Here she was in her element gardening with her mom, boating with her dad, enjoying a glass of wine with her sister and playing endless games with her children, niece and nephews.
Is this short and sweet? Yes, just like her. Forever loved and cherished; forever missed and never forgotten.
Please join the family at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:00 am to celebrate the wonderful person Shelly was.
