Born on March 24, 1944, in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba, Suzanne was the second child of the late Paul and Yvonne Ronceray. She grew up on a farm near Somerset, Manitoba where she shared many cherished fond memories of family life. Her father’s strong belief in education inspired Suzanne to pursue her own path, leading her to Winnipeg for Nursing school. There she formed many lifelong friendships and met Peter Zonneveld - the love of her life - at the graduation celebration.
Suzanne and Peter were blessed with two children, first Lynne and then Paul, whom they loved dearly. Their family was a source of immense joy and pride for Suzanne. She dedicated herself to creating a nurturing and loving home, filled with warmth and laughter. The bond they shared was unbreakable, and Suzanne's devotion to her children was evident in every aspect of her life.
After Peter’s untimely passing in 1976, Suzanne forged ahead demonstrating remarkable strength and resilience creating a rich and fulfilling life for herself and her family. Passionate about education, Suzanne completed her Bachelor’s degree and later pursued her Master’s of Nursing in her fifties. She relocated to Calgary to be closer to her children and six beloved grandchildren, where she cultivated a deep network of friends. Suzanne was a beacon of strength and wisdom to many and will be deeply missed.
Suzanne will be lovingly remembered by her two children and their families: Lynne Lafave (Mark) and Paul Zonneveld (Judy); as well as her grandchildren: Taylor Sokol (Dane), Hailey Penny (Mike), Julia Zonneveld, Caitlin Lafave, Steven Zonneveld, and Sarah Zonneveld; as well as her siblings Robert Ronceray (Marie) and Murielle Perrin (Roland).
Suzanne was predeceased by her husband Peter (1976), father Paul (1987), mother Yvonne (1993), and sister Alice Guilbert (2024).
A Celebration of Suzanne’s life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL (3220 4th Street NW, Calgary AB on Sunday, March 23rd at 10:00AM.
