Thomas Desmond Whittle

Tom, or Desmond at home, was born in Belmont, Lancaster, England and immigrated to Canada in 1957 with his dear wife, June. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, June; their daughter, Heather (Andy) Gray as well as by their grandchild, Colton. Tom is also survived by his siblings, Nancy (Arthur) Taylor, John Everist (Monica and their daughter, Pamela), and Olive (Harry) Waring. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Alice (nee Ainsworth) Whittle; his sisters, Joan Rogers, Kathleen (Herbert) Maden, and Elaine Whittle. He will be remembered as a dedicated member of the North Rotary Club, an avid hiker with Skrastins, and a keen participant with the Calgary Seniors Outdoor Club. Tom loved the outdoors and enjoyed telling a great story of years gone by.

A Celebration of Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice.
