December 18, 1981 – December 6, 2012
Tyler’s family is deeply saddened by his unexpected death on Thursday, December 6, 2012 in Calgary, AB at the age of 30 years. Tyler will be greatly missed by his parents, Frank and Judy; brother, Graham; sister, Carrie; brother-in-law, Chris and especially his nephew, Jason. Tyler’s short life began in Denver, Colorado, but he grew up in the Brentwood area of northwest Calgary. He attended Rundle College Jr. High School and graduated from Sir Winston Churchill High School in 1999. Tyler also attended Augustana University in Camrose, AB. Ty was a fierce competitor in everything from board games to sports. He played Westwood Minor Hockey from the age of six to eighteen and enjoyed coaching roller hockey as a young adult. He was a loud and loyal fan of the Calgary Flames, Calgary Stampeders and Denver Avalanche and Broncos. Tyler enjoyed success in hockey pools and Fantasy Football, mostly because it combined his passion for sports with his phenomenal memory. He was known for spouting statistics off the top of his head. Ty will be remembered for his incredible intelligence and his wicked sense of humour. He was independent to a fault and often mischievous. Beneath his outer shell, Ty’s sensitivity and compassion allowed him to connect instantly to children. He was a proud and loving uncle to his two year old nephew, Jason. There will forever more be a hole in our lives and heart. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
