Wagner Family;

We are members of St. Matthew congregation and have known Walter for many years.  Not only was he a faithful Christian, but he was a giving and generous man.  Walter was always quick to volunteer for a job at the church or to help out a friend.

Walter could be counted on to share his opinion and expertise.  He knew alot, about alot of things and never hesitated to let it be known ;)  Walter had a spicy side and did not tolerate fools.  He was a breath of fresh air during some of our tedious meetings.

A few months ago, I spent quite a day with him.  I helped Walter get set up with Zoom!  It was a challenge for both of us, and Walter was so cool and easygoing about the whole thing.  Calls to Geek Squad, phone calls, having his lovely face on my IPAD for hours as we worked through and got him all set up.  I was just so impressed by his tenaciousness and great attitude during these hours.  If only I could be that tolerant when it comes to technology :)

To sum it up, Walter was awesome!  We are grateful to have known him, to have shared many moments with him, and to have had him be a part of our lives.  God bless you Walter and we look forward to seeing you again.

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.
I have fond memories of playing chess, tennis and golf with Walter, he was always a good competitor. His stories of growing up in Germany during WWII were fascinating, what he endured contributed to building the man he became; a strength of character to keep on going in difficult times;  he passed this on to his children.
Rest in peace Walter.  

Heidi is my oldest and dearest friend and I’m grateful that at this time she has the biggest of families and a loving husband. 
Once I was with Heidi visiting Jeanie & Walter in Chestermere and I must have been going on a little too long with my story and in the middle of it Walter says ‘ I must go cut my grass’ (not to be rude but I believe he was losing daylight)
To this day we laugh about this moment in time- I do hope Walter is cutting the grass in the sunshine

Monica and I were roommates in Calgary.  Mr. Wagner always made me feel so welcome to join them for church and Sunday lunch. He chuckled at me when I turned up my nose at steak tartare. I remember he always had a such a warm smile.

Over the years in Ontario, and Calgary visits, I was fortunate to get to know your Dad , with stories through Monica as well.   I am sending my deepest sympathies and love to all of you.
