Wayne Aubrey Ferris

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our dear husband, father and grandfather Wayne Aubrey Ferris, on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the South Campus Hospital. He passed away peacefully at the age of 79 after three years battling ALS. He fought hard with the disease; however, ALS became too powerful for him.

Over Wayne’s lifetime, he had many careers. His latest career was as a financial planner for over 30 years, this was the most rewarding and satisfying.

Wayne was a wise man. His infectious warmth and humour will be greatly missed. He was positive and always endlessly helpful. Wayne’s passion was karate, this kept him disciplined and focused. The level of optimism, hope and courage with which he faced his illness will inspire us forever.

Besides Wayne’s loving wife and friend of 30 years, Cheryl, he is survived by his children; Les (Sherry), and Glenn (LaRae), his sister Gail, sister-in-law Shirley, grandchildren; Tristan, Lane, and James, and his niece Marie (Travis).

Wayne was predeceased by his parents Aubrey and Phyllis, as well as his brother-in-law Mike.

At Wayne’s request, we will not be having a service in order to respect his wishes.

If friends so desire, donations can be made in Wayne’s name to the ALS Society of Alberta.
