Wayne was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, and at a young age moved out to Calgary, Alberta, where he lived out the rest of his remarkable life.
Fresh out of high school, he started working at Field Aviation at their machine shop, and decided to apprentice. This laid the foundation for him to make his dream of becoming an Aircraft Engineer come to fruition. He quickly moved to Home Oil Petroleum, where over the course of 25 years, he rose to the top of his craft, and forged lifelong friendships with his team in the aviation department.
At the age of 55, he was ready to retire, to pursue his other passion; building Hot Rods. He had a great love of Fords, and each one of his beloved cars bear that name. From his first, a 1929 Model A, to his last, a 1955 T-Bird, which he started building in his 70’s.
Wayne is predeceased by his loving wife Marilyn (1994), his son Christopher (2007), and his brother Bruce (2007).
He will be greatly missed by his son Todd, daughter Donnalena, grandsons Benjamin & Olyver, and his best friend & brother Brian.
Wayne was incredibly smart, and full of good advice, whether you wanted it or not, but was always right. He enjoyed life to the fullest, riding his cars, camping, barbequing, listening to music, and always making us laugh. He was a fierce protector, provider, and hero to us as children, and as we lay him to rest, we will always remember him that way.
A Memorial Reception to honour Wayne’s life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, July 9th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
We encourage everyone to bring their Hot Rods, Fancy Cars, and Motorcycles to this celebration of life!
