Mr. Nic was my grade 8 homeroom teacher but was also my teacher for all 3 years of junior high. He taught me french and although I don't remember much of the words I can remember the games we used to play, french scrabble and races to the blackboard and others. He was a great teacher and always made things fun. He made an effort to get to know his students and was there for his students. He was there when I needed him and I guess he saw potential in me and believed in me. He gave me a prayer book to help me. He will always be one of my favorite teachers who definitely made an impact on me and I will never forget him. My condolences to his family. He was great.

To the family of Wayne Nicolas,
I wish you all comfort in this hard time. I was a student of Wayne (Mr. Nic) for 3 years in junior high. Him and I had a very close Teacher student relationship. When I think of Mr. Nic all that comes to mind is good times and laughs back in junior high. I remember the day that he retired from teaching at Cardinal Newman, it was a year after he was my home room teacher and a whole classroom of us surrounded him in tears saying good bye to him as a teacher. Mr. Nic provided mentorship, support, a fun learning environment and many many more wonderful things. I will never forget many of the things he taught from religion to social studies to french classes. I wish I heard of this sooner so that I could have been at the funeral to say goodbye. Mr. Nic you will always be in my thoughts and prayers, you will make heaven a lot brighter with your humour and music talents!

We were shocked to hear about Wayne. We remember seeing him in Duck Lake last summer when the Laroque Family was celebrating my Mom's 95th Birthday at the Legion Hall. Wayne popped in to wish her a Happy birthday & say Hello to the rest of us. Little did we know that it was also his good bye. 
Growing up a mile down the road from Wayne I recall this cute little cousin with the infectious smile & biggest dimples that made you want to reach out and touch. He was always happy.

When the girls that I went to school with get together there is often a volleyball story or two that is remembered and Mr. Nicolas was always part of some of the best memories. So sorry for your loss.  Mr Nicolas was a great teacher.  Always fun whether it was kill soccer, kill broomball, or baseball.  He kept us active,& our camping trips to Cypress Hills were always fun! He had a great sense of humour but was also very caring and kind.  Everyone had a nickname of some sort too.
