Wilf was born February 12, 1939 in Fredericton NB to Margaret and Clarence Emerson Kimball. He was the second son, younger brother to Frank Kimball(Gloria). He is survived by his wife Audrey Kimball nee Wilson; his three children, Joanne Kimball(Robert Poitevin), Beth Potter nee Kimball(Chris Potter), Brian Kimball (Brenna Kimball); and his grandchildren Mathieu Poitevin(Shelbi Light), Meaghan Poitevin(Corey Perlman), Sydney Grab nee Potter(Andrew Grab), Jackson Potter, Lucy Potter, Cody Kimball, and Caelyn Kimball.
Wilf worked weekends and summers as a young man at a Fredricton general store, where he learned a principle that would follow him throughout his life - Tobacco Can economics. He also worked as a lumberjack in the woods of NB, pulling pranks on tourists and feeding the whiskey jacks rum-soaked bread. Wilf graduated from UNB with a degree in chemical engineering. He quickly put his knowledge to work in crafting a still that worked on a stove element to provide refreshments at the engineering parties.
A dedicated professional, Wilfred spent over 50 years in the petrochemical industry, where he was admired for his expertise, integrity, and mentorship. He took immense pride in helping others grow, always ready with advice, encouragement, and a warm smile. His colleagues described him as a natural leader, and great negotiator, with an infectious laugh that could brighten the toughest of days.
Beyond his career, Wilfred had a deep love of gospel music, got fulfillment from mentoring young people, and enjoyed a good steak. Wilfred’s sense of humor, generosity, his faith and his compassion left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether sharing a good laugh, lending a helping hand, or offering thoughtful guidance, he had a remarkable way of making people feel valued and cared for.
A Celebration of Wilfred’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at Queen's Park Cemetery, 3219 4 Street NW, Lot 82 - Block B - Section GH.
