Wilhelmina Maria Darroch

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wilhelmina Maria Darroch. Helmi passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on Sunday, December 27th, 2020 at the age of 63 years. She was surrounded with love by her family.

Helmi was born August 3rd, 1957 in Driebergen- Rijsenberg Netherlands to parents Cornelis and Petronella de Bruin. She grew up sharing in life’s many beautiful adventures with her older sisters, Marion and Anneke and younger brother Kees. When she was around 24 years old, she decided to leave on her biggest adventure yet and followed her heart to Canada. She quickly got a job at Cole International, where she worked for the rest of her days. While there she made many beautiful, lifelong friendships that meant so much to her. In her later twenties she had four daughters who she loved immensely. She was the best, most loving Mom. She gave everything she had and was the heart and soul of the home and family. On September 23rd 2000, she married the love of her life, her beloved husband Keith Darroch. They were best friends and partners, sharing in a beautiful life together. In him, she found her missing piece.

Helmi loved her family and friends. She loved animals and nature, always taking an opportunity to drive to the mountains when she could. She was a talented artist, spending most of her free time drawing or painting, always with her loyal pups, Franklin, Church and Storm by her side. One of her greatest joys was being Oma to her many grandchildren. She took great pride in watching them grow. She loved Neil Diamond, we will always listen to him in her memory.

Helmi is lovingly remembered by her husband Keith, daughters Katrina (Dave), Allison, Shawna (Rob) and Vicky. Many grandchildren Ayden, Tegan, Preston, Abby, Zoey, Jack, Ryan, Jayde, Asher, Benjamin and Hazel. Her siblings Marion (Jan) Anneke (Wim) and Kees (Gerda) and by many friends and colleagues. She was predeceased by parents Cornelis and Petronella de Bruin.

A date for her Service/Celebration of Life is yet to be determined due to Covid restrictions.
