

Yee Hong Quon passed away peacefully after a short illness at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the age of 84 years. He was born on June 30, 1932 in Canton, China. Yee married his beloved wife, Frieda in Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada in 1961. Together they successfully ran several restaurants including the Shamrock Café, and owned the Orchid Inn on Macleod Trail in Calgary. Yee was kind, generous, and loving to all who knew him. He will be warmly remembered for his spirit, strong work ethic, and his sense of humour. Yee is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frieda; children Wanda (Dick), Dugane (Sonia), Wendy (Mark) and Dugmain (Suzie); grandchildren Emily, Evelyn, and Michelle; step-grandchildren Jennifer (Taylor), Matthew and Nick ; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Mei Lien Huang and brother Yu Xian Guan. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff, doctors and nurses of the Emergency Department, Unit 38 and ICU for their compassionate care, with special thanks to ICU nurses Tannis and Tracy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Calgary Health Trust, Peter Lougheed Centre, www.calgaryhealthtrust.ca. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
