We are so very sorry to hear of the loss of Brent. Brent was ringbearer at our wedding almost 45 years ago. He was the sweetest and most adorable little boy. I remember babysitting him all those years ago when he was a young child. He was such a well behaved little guy. Our deepest condolences to Jim, Shirley and all of the family. We are keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. God bless you all.

I grew up with Brent he was 5 years younger than me. He grew up on Winterhalt I grew up on Erb St we were next door neighbours. Nicer neighbours you could not meet. Brent had wonderful parents in Jim and Shirley. Jeff and Brian were great brothers to Brent. We played outside until the lights came on. Its was such a wonderful childhood. So extremely sorry to the Potts family for the loss of Brent. ❤

I remember we met often at Harriet's bar; our watering hole in Mengo Kampala...All of us expatriots in the neighbourhood could be found there almost every evening after work between 6 and dinnertime and in the weekends..It was our second living room... Brent would be a permanent fixture on the terrace and an avid backgammon player and often beat me because he played such a tight game even though winning was by and large based on luck....He would inform me of "how great the chances were of throwing doubles" and other things that betray a keen mind and great foresight and whenever he came up with a thought or an idea he would use "the Socratic method" of reasoning whereby his conclusion was posited first and thereafter his solid and logical justification for it...He hated paying too much for something, be it a rolex or a new shirt or anything and when one fine day an unfortunate boda boda driver overcharged him on the usual short ride home he stood his ground and refused to pay the exaggerated fee come hell or high water...When his great friend Dominic was still alive on Banda, a paradise island situated in lake Victoria he would love to spend days there, as did we, and relax and play more backgammon and wax lyrical while looking at the view and listening to the birds and the crickets and forget that he would sometimes worry too much about life...

Brent was a new friend and someone who made a deep impression on me. He was thoughtful and a deep thinker. Our conversations were sincere and insightful. He was someone who always strived to keep his word, and he often did. I will miss him and pray for God's comfort for his grieving family and friends. May his good works follow after him and may his soul rest in peace.

To say Brent was a brother-in-law would be an understatement. He was a brother, full of constructive ideas in every department of life. We'll miss his jokes, Brent leaves us with fond memories.

On one of Brent's trips back home I picked him up at the airport in Toronto as usual, but instead of going to mom and dad's we headed in the other direction. We went Bellville for an Alan Doyle concert. He was working for Habitat for Humanity at the time and had three Habitat T-Shirts with him that he gave away to people that night. One to a family that admired our safari shoes, one to a a girl at the concert with her parents after he talk to her about the importance of traveling and understanding different cultures. I can't recall who got the third one. That was a great night and I always loved our adventures together.
