AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Catherine Jean Brown

6 avril 1947 – 17 janvier 2026
Avis de décès de Catherine Jean Brown
AUX SOINS DE

Barthel Funeral Home

It is with great sadness that Dennis Brown announces the sudden passing of his beloved wife and life partner of nearly 60 years, Catherine Jean Brown, on Saturday, January 17, 2026 who passed peacefully, surrounded by family.

Catherine, lovingly known as Cathy, found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life. She loved a quiet drive through the countryside, a visit to Port Dover to take in the beauty around her, reading the newspaper and staying current with the world, and most of all, spending time with her family. Her home and heart were always open. Cathy also had a deep love for dogs and found great happiness in all the fur babies in her life, delighting in spoiling each one as only she could.

Cathy shared an especially close and lifelong bond with her twin sister, Carol, a relationship filled with love, laughter, and constant companionship. Their connection was one of Cathy’s greatest treasures.

She adored her grandchildren beyond measure. Visits with Abby and Faith were highlights of her days, and she never arrived without a small treat or thoughtful surprise—simple gestures that reflected how deeply she loved and delighted in them. Time with her family, whether through visits, short drives, or quiet moments together, meant everything to her.

Catherine worked for Whitman Golden Books for over 25 years, where she built lasting friendships. Even in retirement, she remained thoughtful and caring, always staying in touch and checking in on those she loved.

Her greatest accomplishment and proudest joy was her family—especially her children. Cathy was deeply proud of Kelly and Bob, and nothing mattered more to her than knowing they were happy, loved, and doing well.

Above all, Cathy was a devoted wife. Dennis loved her with his whole heart, and her passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in his life. She was his constant, his partner, and the love of his life, and he will miss her deeply every day.

Catherine was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her children Kelly Tidwell (Chris) and Robert “Bob” Brown (Kim). She was incredibly proud of her grandchildren, Abby and Faith, and cherished every moment she spent spoiling them. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her sister Carol McQuitty (late Tom), her sister-in-law Betty Lou Nunn (Dave), as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Wilfred Rosebrugh, her brother Donnie Rosebrugh, her sister Susan Albert, and her dearly loved grandson, Robert Jr. Brown.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff and medical team at CMHCfor their compassion, care, and kindness shown to Catherine and her family during her final days.

Catherine will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date, to be announced.

If desired, donations in her memory can be made to the Humane Society and the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
