John (Jack) Frederick Sykes died, November 26, 2014, due to medical complications after a car accident. He was born January 12, 1930 in Windsor, Ontario. At the time of his death he was 84 years old. He was predeceased by his parents Ben and Minnie Sykes and one brother, Sam (Marilyn).
He attended Preston High School where he met his future bride, Isabel Cunnington. They always said that their courting years were their best years. They remember many trips on the trolley between Hespeler and Preston going to and from a dance.
Dad started working for his father, a local contractor, right after high school. He then hired on with Ontario Hydro, working as a linesman. The call to own and operate his own business led him to purchase an Esso service station franchise on Hwy. 8. Lastly, he owned Blair mills, a cornmeal mill, that kept him busy until he retired in 2002 at the age of 72. Jack leaves to mourn him, his loving wife of 64 years, Isabel (Bella) nee Cunnington, his three daughters Bonnie Madonia (Joe), Wenda Sykes-Fairservice (Dan) and Kim Gore (Mike). He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren Tossa Fairservice (Sandy), Dusk Fairservice (Candice), Hilary Brown (Brad), Emily Brown (Ty) and Hailey Gore. Finally he leaves six great-granddaughters, Brook-Lynn, Maddison, Zoe, Abbigail, Kassie, and Nala Boissoneau.
